Hi All,
Firstly, a new mailing list has been created for announcements relating to
the mirror. It will be a low volume list primarily consisting of
information on the addition of new archives or notifications of mirror
downtime.
Information on the new "mirror-info" list can be found on the mirror's
about page:
http://mirror.cse.unsw.edu.au/about.html#mailinglist.
Speaking of notices...
The CSE mirror will be taken offline for up to 24 hours starting
approximately 4pm, Thursday 7th July (next week). During this time, we
will be adding new disks and reconfiguring the RAID array to double its
capacity.
Most of the time will be taken up with shuffling the 500GB+ of data back
onto the new array from a temporary holding space. I will endeavour to
create some indirection to give (transparent) readonly access to the
holding area during the transfer. If that works, visible downtime should
only be about 2 hours 4-6pm Thursday, plus a couple of minutes on Friday
when these measures are removed. The 2 hours are required to reconfigure
the root drives of the system.
Regards,
- Simon
